ABOUT

Alexa is a contemporary encaustic artist whose work explores texture, luminosity, materiality, and emotional resonance through layered wax, pigment, and abstraction.
Working with the ancient encaustic process, she fuses molten beeswax and pigment into richly tactile surfaces that reveal depth, translucency, and subtle movement. Built through a process of layering, excavation, and refinement, each composition evolves intuitively—balancing softness and structure, stillness and motion, presence and impermanence.
Embedded within select works are natural crystals and mineral elements chosen for their symbolic and energetic associations. Integrated directly into the wax surface, these materials become part of the painting’s physical and conceptual landscape—introducing themes of protection, grounding, abundance, intuition, and spiritual connection. Rather than functioning as ornament, the crystals act as quiet conduits of intention, extending the emotional and sensory experience of each piece.
